Big Blue Marble believes educators and booksellers can partner to foster literacy in our community. We strive to have a selection as diverse as our neighborhood and pay particular attention to our children’s and young adult sections. We know students need access to a wide variety of books to inspire a lifelong love of reading and learning but the reality is that there just isn’t public funding to create effective classroom libraries and teachers often spend their own money filling their shelves.
The Classroom Library Project is a way to aid teachers as they build classroom collections. Here’s how it works: We ask teachers to give the bookstore a list of titles they’d like to add to their libraries and we’ll extend a discount of 15% to community members interested in purchasing those books for the classroom. With multiple purchases comes more incentive. For example:
Buying 1 book gets a customer a 15% discount on that item as well as an item of their own of equal value; With 2 or more books they get 15% off their entire order; 10+ books or $100 allows for a 20% discount on purchases that day. Help Support Local Classrooms!
