Jennifer Ailey, "Give It Our All: Creating Sustainable Change Through the US Non-Profit Sector"

  • Big Blue Marble Bookstore 551 Carpenter Lane Philadelphia, PA, 19119 United States (map)

Big Blue Marble welcomes Jennifer Ailey, author of "Give It Our All: Creating Sustainable Change Through the US Non-Profit Sector."

Do you ever wonder how much good your charitable efforts do? Have you ever stood in the checkout line and considered if “rounding up” your purchase is doing the most good possible? Do you sometimes want to give back but aren’t sure of the best way to effect real, sustainable change?

"Give It Our All" is an overview of the challenges and opportunities in the nonprofit sector within the United States. Author Jennifer Ailey, an experienced nonprofit professional, explores the difficulties in providing nonprofit support, the opportunities to improve the results of charitable efforts, and ways the average consumer can better evaluate and engage with the causes they support.

Jennifer Ailey has dreamed of becoming an author her whole life. A Philadelphia native and graduate of Dickinson College, writing has always been more than a passion, but a calling. She is a seasoned arts, culture, and nonprofit educator with working experience from some of Philadelphia’s most dynamic institutions.

Emboldened by her professional endeavors, Jennifer knew that her inkling towards charity was greater than the occasional visit. At times, her optimism and excitement about working in the voluntary sector was met with skepticism towards the validity of the sector’s impact.

This idea of impact was the jumping off point for her research. The process of writing led her to explore the United States’ historical relationship with giving back, investigate the philanthropic industrial complex, and to provide readers with the direction the sector is heading.
